Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy Esmail Mahsouli in interview with Mehr said that Iran has conducted numerous talks with European companies to reach deals on energy.
He stated that it is expected that with a prospective nuclear agreement between Iran and the six powers, a wave of companies would start to seek cooperation with Iran on water management and electricity.
"A big Dutch company has offered Iran a deal worth $1 billion to expand Iran’s wind-powered electricity production,” Mahsouli maintained.
Recently, German companies have developed a new technology through which to reduce the cost of producing electricity out of wind power, he stated.
He maintained that right now Iran produces each KW of electricity powered by wind for around 7 cents and added "This cost is able to compete with thermal power plants.”
"The country’s electricity industry has prioritized the use of recent technological advancements to produce clean, cheap electricity. Cooperating with international companies can be beneficial here,” he said.
